GLENDALE, Los Angeles County — October 31, 2026. Residents have an opportunity to give used clothing and broken household items another life on Saturday, November 14, when the city hosts back-to-back sustainability activities at Brand Studios, 1601 W. Mountain Street.
Clothing Swap, 10–11 a.m.
The city’s event announcement says visitors may bring up to five clean, gently used clothing items, without tears or stains. The city does not accept jewelry, shoes, accessories, swimsuits or underwear through this swap. People should not expect all types of clothing to be accepted.
Repair Café, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Skilled volunteers will try to repair qualifying household items. Examples in the city listing include torn jeans, broken clocks, small appliances and dull knives. Visitors may bring up to two clean items, with needed replacement parts already supplied. The city warns that a repair is not guaranteed and items may stop being accepted after 1 p.m. if capacity fills.
Large grandfather clocks, certain older televisions, cell phone screens, sewing machines and internal watch mechanisms are among items the city’s rules say are not accepted.
Battery recycling and volunteering
Organizers also plan to accept certain small household batteries, including AA, AAA, 9-volt, C and D sizes and several button, lithium and Ni-Cd varieties. Vehicle batteries and large batteries are not included. The city is seeking volunteers with sewing, repair, gardening, bicycle and other practical skills.
The Repair Café is a free community service, but the city emphasizes limitations and does not supply replacement parts. For volunteering or event questions, the announcement lists Sustainability@GlendaleCA.gov and 818-548-3307.
